Another part of Kerala – KERALA BOAT RACE

Kerala has been known over a period time because of its traditions and culture and has been the centre of attraction from quite a year because of its varied heritage and scenic beauty. The snakeboatplace is full of adventures and one of the best known adventures in Kerala is the Boating which is seen throughout the year. Because of the enormous love for boating, the place holds some of the popular boat race competition throughout the year and participants from various regions join together to play and witness the great excitement. Among all the boat races, the Nehru Trophy Boat Race is the best one. The races are generally held during the festival times or during some occasion. Some of the popular boat races in Kerala are:

Pulinkunnu Rajiv Gandhi Boat race – This race takes place in the Pulinkunnu River and is around 20 km from the Alappuzha town.

Champakulam Moolam boat race – This is said to be one of the oldest boat race and it takes place in the Pampa River.

Neerettupuram boat race – This boat race too is held on the Pampa River and is around 30 km from Alappuzha town.Kerala

The Aranmula boat race – One of the oldest river boat activity in Kerala and happens during the Onam festival where people from various region gather to witness this popular event.

Sree Narayana Jayanthi Vallam Kali – This boat race happens in Kumarakom during the Onam festival.

Kallada boat race – This popular boat race is arranged almost after a month of Onam and is organized in the Muthiraparampu-Karuvathrakadavu course of the Kallada River.

Indira Gandhi Boat race – This is generally celebrated in the last week of December and is held in the beautiful Kochi.

Nehru Trophy Boat Race – One of the popular boat race in Kerala and is held in the Punnamada Lake which is near Alappuzha. This race is named after our late Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru when he went for a trip from Kottayam to Alappuzha by boat. This race attracts visitors from various parts of the country as they want to witness this great fiesta.
